Smart and
Skilled Funding
Alium Works is an approved NSW Smart and Skilled Training Provider
Smart and Skilled helps people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.
Skills NSW offers access to course and training information, as well as advice and guidance, for NSW residents at any stage of their career across the state, empowering individuals to achieve their goals.
Traditionally, NSW Smart and Skilled provides eligible NSW students with subsidised training for qualifications up to and including Certificate III. In addition, government funding is available for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in specific priority areas.
Recent changes to Smart and Skilled requirements mean that even if you hold a higher-level qualification, you may still be eligible to retrain up to Certificate III to enter or re-enter the workforce. Higher-level qualifications such as Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma may also be eligible for subsidised training, subject to the availability of funding for these courses. Furthermore, some new-entrant trainees and NSW apprentices may qualify for a government training subsidy if it supports their apprenticeship or traineeship.
Please note that while previous qualifications do not affect eligibility, they may impact the student fee.
The primary goal of NSW Smart and Skilled is to help individuals enter the workforce by improving their language, literacy, and numeracy skills, along with gaining specific job-related competencies.
For more details about this initiative, visit the ‘Smart and Skilled’ website at https://education.nsw.gov.au/skills-nsw or call 1300 772 104.
We are approved for part qualifications under the TPPPQ Program and for full qualification for TLI course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is all about the skills and knowledge an individual has collected through work and life experience and then transferring them to current training course requirements. RPL must take place at the start of training, apprenticeship or traineeship after enrolling with a Registered Training Provider (RTO).
Credit Transfer also recognises previous formal learning (e.g. completion of other qualifications). It uses an assessment of previous courses completed to determine whether it can be credited to the new course. The assessment determines the extent to which the previous course is equivalent to the required learning outcomes or the applicants desired qualification.
