Our Story
01.
Founded on a mission
Alium Works was founded by Ann Tomlinson to challenge outdated practices and build real, supported pathways into rail. Ann’s own path through the industry, including navigating a male-dominated sector with little support early on, shaped a belief that there had to be a better way to help people enter rail, feel supported, and succeed.

From rail training to full assurance
What began as rail-specific training has grown into a broader rail safety practice, spanning accredited training, hands-on consulting, and now a compliance platform. Our work stays grounded in the same thing it started with: real-world experience, not theory.

Recognition
In 2024, Ann was named Safety Person of the Year at the ARISO National Rail Industry Awards, and won the AusMumpreneur “Women Will Change the World” Award. Alium Works has also been recognised with the RTAA Diversity in Rail Award and finalist positions in the Australian Rail Industry Awards.

VR Investigation Training
Practise ICAM investigation skills in a fully immersive virtual environment, then get assessed face to face. It's the closest thing to running a real investigation, without the real-world risk.
Rail Safety Training
Nationally accredited training built for the job, not just the paperwork. From full qualifications to targeted short courses, delivered online, on-site, or through RPL.
